Associate Fellow, IDSA and currently Visiting Professor and Chair (India Studies), Department of Political Science and Public Administration, University of Dar-es-Salaam, Dr Anand Kumar’s article on the publishing of the second draft of the National Register of Citizens (NRC), titled ‘Limited but important gains from NRC’ was published in Rediff.com on August 29, 2018.
Dr Kumar in his article observes that the publishing of the NRC will not rid India of illegal immigrants who are already here. But even if it manages to withhold their political and voting rights, it will be a significant achievement.
