    Col. Mohit Saxena, VrC was commissioned into the 2nd Battalion, The Rajputana Rifles in June 1995. During his illustrious career, he served as Company Commander and Battalion Commander for almost five times (nearly eight years) in Jammu & Kashmir. He has been involved in numerous counter insurgency operations during his tenures in various districts of Jammu & Kashmir. He has served in Kupwara, Baramulla, Kandi, Bandipore and Gulmarg. He has also been the Staff Officer controlling operations on the western front and in Arunachal Pradesh.

    Col. Saxena had actively taken part in Operation Vijay (1999). At a young age of 24 years, he led his troops in the battle to capture the important heights of Tololing and Three Pimple complex in the Drass sector. For successfully leading two separate attacks, he was awarded the prestigious Vir Chakra by the President of India.

    Col. Saxena completed his M.Phil. from Mumbai University in 2015. He is also an alumnus of the prestigious Defence Services Staff College, Wellington from where he completed his master’s degree. A keen sportsman and a thorough professional, he has recently completed his tenure in the Army HQs where he was looking after the training aspects of the Indian Army. He is presently studying Defence Diplomacy as part of his research fellowship at the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (MP-IDSA), New Delhi.
