    The Nawa-e- Waqt Urdu daily has criticized former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for his wish of giving up “Pakistan’s principled position on Kashmir to forge a better relations with India.” The daily in its editorial writes that “former Prime Minister and Muslim League (N) supreme leader Nawaz Sharif has said that the Indian worship the same God which we worship… Both the countries should give up their 60 years stand on Kashmir. If there is a friendly relation between the two countries, issues would be resolved.” The daily writes that Nawaz Sharif said this while addressing a function organized by an organization which is in favour of friendly relations with India. The daily also quotes him saying that “if India went after Mig 27 we ran to acquire F-17. Because of this arms race we were left behind in education, social sector, health and development.”

    Commenting on his statements the daily in its editorial says that Muslim League (N)’s supreme leader’s statement on the eve of Pakistan’s 65th birthday that we worship the same God the Indian worship is tantamount to mocking at aims of creation of Pakistan. The daily says that Iqbal proposed the idea of Pakistan after Hindu’s discriminative policies towards Indian Muslims and later Qaed-e- Azam realized this goal based on his ideas. “Was it a political mistake on which Miyan Nawaz Sharif is apologetic,” asks the daily. The daily writes further that Nawaz Sharif’s statement that Pakistan and India should give up their stands on Kashmir contradicts the philosophy of founder of Pakistan who termed Kashmir as Pakistan’s jugular vein.

    “If he ( Nawaz Sharif) wants to do politics in Pakistan, he should apologize to nation for his speech and should seek atonement from God. The people in Pakistan do not support this kind of political thinking and the country can not afford these kinds of politics,” writes the daily in concluding remarks of its editorial.

    The most welcome step would be to eliminate Baloch peoples’ grievances with the army: Ausaf

    The Ausaf Urdu daily in its editorial on Blaochistan writes that “Army Chief Pervez Kayani has said that Pakistan’s existence is Balochistan’s existence. The benefit received from natural resources would be spent on development of province. The Pakistan army will recruit five thousand more youths from Balochistan.”

    Commenting on Army General’s remarks the daily says that “ Balochistan is a golden future of Pakistan. But to extract resources from Balochistan, peace is a must. The “key” to ensure peace there is either with the government or the military. Since Pakistan’s fate is attached with the fate of Balochistan, they should desist from taking any step which angers the people. The daily suggests that Pakistan should keep the US away from the province and should utilized Chinese engineering technologies to extract mineral resources from Balochistan.

    The daily says that Army Chief’s decision to recruit more youth in Pakistan army is a welcome decision but “the most welcome step would be to eliminate Baloch peoples’ grievances with the army. The Pakistan army should try to make every one its friend in Pakistan. We hope that our suggestions would be given due importance”, writes the daily while concluding the editorials.

    PPP should take a decision on the creation of new province based on country’s greater interest: Jang

    The Jang Urdu daily has written its editorial over the pandemonium in Punjab assembly over the creation of Sarekistan. The Daily writes that “ Punjab assembly witnessed unruly seen over the presentation of resolution for the creation of a separate province consisting of south Punjab. The daily quotes PPP’s Raja Reyaz as saying that “Party has supported the creation of a province and after Eid Party will take out a march from Rahim Yar Khan to Lahore to press the demand.” The Jang criticizing the move says that it is beyond the understanding of the people that why PPP is not concentrating on its manifesto and commitment made with the people and what was the need of raking up the issue at a time when the country faces various serious crisis.

    The daily also opines that if the creation of new province is aimed at achieving single objective of gaining majority in the next assembly elections in the envisioned province, then it is an immature politics. It adds that the new provinces should be created as per the ways spelled in country’s constitution. Any step setting aside the constitutional provisions would be illegal. The daily suggests the PPP to shun its politics based on linguistic and ethnic interest and should take a decision in the greater interest of the nation.
