    • Gilani’s China visit conveyed message to the world that Islamabad and Beijing are trusted partners in every circumstance

    Most of the Pakistani Urdu dailies have written back to back editorials on Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s visit to China. The Jang Urdu Daily in one of its editorials writes that “Prime Minister’s visit to China was highly fruitful in the sense that both the leaders exchanged views over the situation in the region and reaffirmed their commitment to take their relationship in to a new height. The visit conveyed the message to the world that ‘come what may’ Islamabad and Beijing are good neighbours, sincere friends and trusted partners.” The Daily also writes that “China stated that it would provide 50 JF-17 fighter aircrafts, help in launching Pakistani satellites into airspace and will help Pakistan in reconstruction in the flood affected areas. Both the countries signed MOUs to promote banking, economic and cultural sectors in Pakistan.”

    The Daily opines that “this is a good development” and suggests that Pakistan should expedite its efforts “to provide a new horizon to its relationship with other countries in the region. Once we detach ourselves from the West and would seek new horizons with a new thinking (in Pakistan’s diplomacy), it would not only be beneficial for us but also for other countries in the region”, writes the daily in its concluding observations.

    With the help of China, Pakistan should form a new block to end the dominance of the US, the UK and India

    The Nawa-e-Waqt Urdu Daily also welcomed the outcome of Pakistani Prime Minister’s Beijing visit. In one of its editorial, it suggested Pakistan to “end regional imperialism with the help of China”. The Daily writes that “in the wake of the Abbottabad Operation and consistent US pressures to do more, Pakistan should change its foreign policy. With the help of China, it should form a new block of world powers to end the dominance of the US, the UK and India.” In this context, Prime Minister Gilani’s visit to China could be very helpful to guarantee the security of Pakistan and it also could be “a warning to the imperialist countries who want to destroy Pakistan,” opines the Daily.

    Hasn’t the time come to liberate ourselves from the US?

    The Ausaf Urdu Daily has written three editorials on Pakistani Prime Minister’s visit to Beijing. In its first editorial the Daily writes that “Gilani is visiting China at a time when Pakistan is besieged in external and internal challenges and Pakistani people are looking at China to help Pakistan come out of the quagmire created by the West.” The Daily further writes that “the nation is waiting for the moment when Pakistani leadership sends a two word (Good Bye) letter to the US and announces to align its interests with China.” The Daily also argues that “time has come that we ask help from China and liberate ourselves from the US.”

    China gave us all that we needed

    In its second editorial, the Ausaf Urdu Daily writes that “17 billion Pakistani people are honoured to have a friend like China. This friendship is a blessing which has been bestowed upon only a few nations. Chinese have helped Pakistan more than what we have been expecting from them. China has conveyed to the world that nobody should consider Pakistan aloof. Whatever circumstances may be, china is with Pakistan.”
    The Daily further writes that during Prime Minister Gilani’s visit, “China gave us whatever we needed. They gave us money, they gave us fighter aircrafts and above all they gave us lots of love and demanded the US to respect the sovereignty of Pakistan.”

    Take Chinese help to improve economic situation of Pakistan

    In its third editorial in this series, the Ausaf Urdu Daily offered some suggestion to improve Pakistani economy with the help of China. It says that “there is a long list of the sectors in which China can help Pakistan. We have reached an agreement with China for the extraction of gold. Now we should plan to extract Coal from Thar and should give its contract to China. We should also think of constructing dams with the help of China for hydroelectric production in the country.” The Daily hopes that if it happens so, Pakistan would be out of the economic crisis in five years time.
