Sino-Pak defence cooperation will help maintain balance of power in the region: Nawa-e-Waqt
Nawa-e-Waqt Urdu daily has welcomed the recently concluded Sino-Pakistan defence agreement. The daily in its editorial says that “according to the defence agreement both countries will hold joint exercises. China will provide 60 million Yuan for the training of the Pakistani armed forces and will also provide four trainer aircraft for Pakistan Air Force. Chinese Defence Minister also assured Pakistan that China will promote cooperation in civil nuclear field and will help tackle electricity crisis in Pakistan.”
Commenting on this development, the daily says that “China is not only our good neighbour but it is also our good friend.” It is said in Pakistan that our relationship with China is “taller than Himalaya” and “sweeter than honey”, which is true. China’s friendship is without any vested interest and is durable. But unfortunately Pakistani leadership has shown greater interest in cooperating with the United States and has never been sincere in promoting defence relations with China, writes the daily.
“China is the only country which has understood India’s expansionist design and is fully aware of its conspiracies against regional peace and security,” says the daily adding that “from this perspective, we should rely completely on China to counter India’s aggressive design.”
The daily further opines that “in the national interest and for regional security Sino-Pakistani friendship should be further promoted so that it becomes an example for its joint enemies.” China also realizes that the deepening relations between the United States and India can create more problems for the security situation in the region. Thus it is necessary to counter India’s defence capabilities which can only be done by promoting defence cooperation between China and Pakistan, adds the daily.
As regards civil nuclear cooperation with China, the daily suggests that Pakistan should get “nuclear technology from China rather than the US which is denying these technologies so that our defence does not only become impregnable but also we solve our electricity crisis.”
The editorial in its conclusion says that “Sino-Pakistan defence cooperation will not only end the US hegemony in the region but will also shatter India’s dream of becoming regional power. It will also maintain balance of power in the region. Therefore, it should not be left wrapped in the files but should be implemented in our national interest.”

China’s relations with Pakistan is “taller than Himalayas”: Khabrein Urdu daily
Commenting on the China-Pakistan defence agreement, another Pakistani Urdu daily, Khabrein, in its editorial says that “earlier remarks such as China’s relations with Pakistan is ‘taller than Himalayas’ may have been used as a token of appreciation but it is the reality today. The countries have seen ups and downs in their relations but even the ‘summers and winters’ have not been able to hinder relations between China and Pakistan.”
The daily says that experts believe that the Chinese economy in the future will become so strong that Americans would have to “lock their factories” and these “locks will also come from China.” In this situation, if China is offering support Pakistan should utilize this opportunity. Whenever Pakistan is in crisis, China comes for help. But despite that Pakistani leaders do not understand China’s importance.

Every Pakistani should salute China for its love for Pakistan: Ausaf
“At a time when some of the world’s powers are squeezing Pakistan like a lemon, China is trying to help Pakistan out of crisis,” writes Ausaf Urdu daily while commenting on the recently signed China-Pakistan defence agreement. The daily opines that “at a time when its ally (the US) is turning its back on assurances, China is the only friend which is helping Pakistan to come out of the crisis. If Pakistani government takes sincere efforts then China can also help Pakistan to come out of its electricity and economic crises. We understand that every Pakistani should be thankful to China and should salute its love for Pakistan.”

OIC should become powerful to resolve issues confronting Muslim nations: Nawa-e-Waqt
The 57-member OIC has reiterated its support for the Kashmiri cause and has urged India to honour Kashmiris’ aspirations and human rights, writes Nawa-e-Waqt Urdu daily in its editorial. The editorial also notes that “if OIC plays its influential role, many issues confronting the Muslim nations can be resolved and if the OIC models itself on the line of EU, it can become a stronger power than the US.” To achieve this goal, the daily suggests that OIC nations should rise above their differences, form a joint military organization and a common banking system.
The daily opines that “if the OIC becomes powerful, it can exert pressure on the US and other countries of the western world to resolve the Kashmir issue. If they do not resolve the issue, then the OIC nation should snap economic ties with the West, which will force them to their knees.”
The daily also suggests that the OIC should announce the severing of ties with India and threaten to withdraw envoys from India on the issue; only then will India listen.
In conclusion the Nawae-e- Waqt suggests that OIC can become a bigger super power than the United States with the cooperation of Islamic nations and in that case Pakistan’s nuclear power will be the Islamic world’s nuclear power. “If the Islamic nations do not express unity even now, then the issue of Kashmir and Palestine will continue to burn and the US will continue to destroy each nation like Iraq and Afghanistan.”

Pakistan Pulse: Public Opinion Poll by Asas Urdu daily
Against the backdrop of attacks on religious institutions of Ahmadiyas in Lahore and amidst US insistence on expanding the ambit of anti-terrorist operations from South Waziristan to North Waziristan and up to South Punjab, the Asas Urdu daily tried to asses public opinion on the issue. To a question whether the government should start a military operation in South Punjab, a large number of respondents responded “NO”. But on the issue of need for military operations in North Waziristan, the “Yes” sayers were quite high compared to those in South Punjab.
